Humble Beginnings
In 2004, two members of our board team met at a World Council of Churches conference commemorating the 10th anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda. This led to initial financial assistance for the newly founded association of the Presbyterian congregation in Byumba, called Association Wikwiheba – Never Lose Hope.
Growing Together
After many years of friendship and meetings, the idea grew to put the partnership on a more stable footing. For this purpose, the association Wikwiheba e.V. was founded in Munich in 2013. Later, the sister association Wikwiheba in the USA was added.
Our Foundation Today
While the projects have developed and changed over time, the foundation of Wikwiheba remains constant: collaboration and partnership on equal terms between people in Rwanda, Germany, and the USA.
